The parade route will kick off at noon on 5th Avenue at 26th Street, then proceed downtown before heading west on 8th Street. The first parade took place on June 28th, 1970, on the one-year anniversary of the uprising at the Stonewall Inn which galvanized the modern gay rights movement. On Sunday, June 26th, New York City will host Gay Pride, the yearly celebration of the LGBTQ community.
